New York – Fortress Investment Group today announced that funds managed by its affiliates (“Fortress”) have provided $175 million of senior secured credit facilities to The RealReal, Inc. (Nasdaq: REAL) (“The RealReal” or the “Company”), the world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated, resale luxury goods. Fortress served as agent and sole lender.
The credit facilities comprise two components: a $150 million first lien term loan, funded at closing, and a $25 million revolving credit facility available for working capital and general corporate purposes.
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in San Francisco, The RealReal serves more than 40 million members. Every item sold on the platform is authenticated by experts, including brand authenticators, gemologists and horologists, supported by proprietary technology. The Company’s full-service consignment model allows consignors to sell through in-home pickup, in-store drop-off, virtual appointments and direct shipping, across categories including women’s and men’s fashion, handbags, fine jewelry and watches, and home.
“We’re pleased to partner with the management of The RealReal to provide a flexible financing solution that supports the continued growth of its market-leading position in authenticated luxury resale,” said Mac Maynard, Managing Director in Corporate Credit at Fortress Investment Group. “The company has developed a loyal and highly engaged customer base, and its business model is delivering profitable growth, and a strong and improving financial profile.”
