Akio Yamashita

Co-Head of Asia, Co-Head of Japan Real Estate

Akio Yamashita is a Managing Director, Co-Head of Asia and Co-Head of Japan Real Estate. He is also Representative in Japan.

Prior to joining Fortress in 2008, Mr. Yamashita was in Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Securitized Product Group where he led financings involving corporate restructurings, a management buyout, land acquisitions, pre-REIT bridge financing, and other real estate-related transactions. From 1984 to 2005, Mr. Yamashita worked at the Development Bank of Japan (“DBJ”) where he led primary deals in Japan in real estate and project finance.

Mr. Yamashita received a B.A. in Economics from Hitotsubashi University and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
